Well, I wish I had better news about our Shriner's visit today, but you don't always get what you wish for. And who's to say that isn't a good thing?
The orthopedic surgeon that we saw today said pretty much the same thing as the others. Medicate him until it gets so bad we have to do surgery. We were really disappointed with what he had to say, and then he didn't even want to prescribe the medicine -- so he sent us back to our pediatrician.
That was actually the best part of our day. What was really nice was to go back to the doctor who confirms what we are doing. He told us that he was sorry that the surgeons didn't seem to be capable of thinking outside the box. He discussed with us other good treatment options, and gave us medication to help him get out of immediate pain.
The best part was once again, when he said that if we weren't doing what we were doing, Noah would be twisted like a pretzel (not his exact words, but close). He said that we are doing the right thing, and we need to keep doing Noah's program.
And he's not the only medical doctor that has told us the same thing. It was good to be reminded of that. So while we didn't hear what we wanted to hear from Shriner's today, we heard something we needed to hear because we didn't hear what we wanted from Shriner's today.
God is very good, even when it doesn't feel like it!
Noah's army is a group of volunteers united in doing a program that will give Noah the best chance he has for reaching his potential. Come by any time for news on his progress and to see pictures of him and his brother.
Prayer Requests
UPDATED 08/20/12
1. Please pray that we can continue to get our new house set up for all of Noah's needs and that we can find all the volunteers we needs to do Noah's program (this is always a big, slow process when we move).
3. Our other big request is for Noah's hip. Noah's out-of-joint left hip is really holding him back. He needs range of motion, and he needs the muscles that are too tight to loosen up and the loose muscles to tighten up and get bigger. Pray for a new type of physical therapy we are started specifically to help the hip.
