We are now in the thick of preparing for our trip to Philadelphia, but even with all that going on we have managed to have a great week of program. Noah is doing better crawling down the incline than I have ever seen him. He uses his right arm to push himself forward more than ever before and for the first time in a long time is making progress getting himself further off the end of the incline.
He is also creeping in the "gravity assisted environment" much more and using his left leg much better. He is still having some problems with his left hip, which is frustrating, but when I reflect on how things were only six months ago...
Six months ago, Noah was in pain all the time. There was no position that could get him really comfortable, and it was hard for him to eat, sleep, play, or do program. He started on some muscle relaxers and improved -- a little. We went back to the Institutes and got our new program, but could only do it in the morning. By the afternoon he was too tight to move his legs and would start having pain.
Now Noah is doing program solidly until 5PM and only gets a little tight when we try to do program after that time. So as frustrating as it may seem now to see him continue to have occasional pain with his hip, all I have to do is think back a little bit to realize how well things are going now.
Noah's army is a group of volunteers united in doing a program that will give Noah the best chance he has for reaching his potential. Come by any time for news on his progress and to see pictures of him and his brother.
Prayer Requests
UPDATED 08/20/12
1. Please pray that we can continue to get our new house set up for all of Noah's needs and that we can find all the volunteers we needs to do Noah's program (this is always a big, slow process when we move).
3. Our other big request is for Noah's hip. Noah's out-of-joint left hip is really holding him back. He needs range of motion, and he needs the muscles that are too tight to loosen up and the loose muscles to tighten up and get bigger. Pray for a new type of physical therapy we are started specifically to help the hip.
