Holiday Decor

I have a five-year-old that LOVES to draw. In fact, we got him some step-by-step drawing books by Ed Emberly a couple years ago, and he has been hooked ever since. These books are great because all you need is to be able to draw a few simple shapes and you can then produce all manner of pictures. Eli has one book for drawing animals, and one called "Make A World", though there are several others.

Not too long ago, I came across window crayons by Crayola, and I got them thinking that it would be a fun project for the boys. Now that Halloween is upon us, and Eli is drawing every chance he gets, I turned him loose on the window, and these were his creations. Some are from the Ed Emberly books, and some he came up with himself -- like the yellow eyeball.

Surprisingly, the crayons are not all that messy, and they wipe off easily with a little bit of water. There were only five colors, however, and I had to help Eli mix the yellow and red to make the pumpkin orange. It took quite a bit of mixing.

I plan do do some more window drawing with Noah, and if we get them done before this posts, I will put in his drawings as well. I will have him spell out what he wants to draw, then I will put the crayon in his hand and help him draw it. He loves doing this, and is very proud of the things he draws with Mama's or Grandmama's help (though I have to admit, Grandmama's help produces much better pictures).

So, it is not a great photo, but Noah and I did the cat in the lower left corner. He was very happy with it!
