1. You come home, get things going immediately, and the program takes off with a bang, or...
2. You come home and have to get past some frustrating problems before things really get going.
Right now we are working through number 2, and the biggest difficulty is mouth sores. Noah is having a really hard time with sores in his mouth, and we are trying to figure out why. It makes it difficult for him to eat, which means he's not getting enough energy to go full tilt into his physical program. We've been working with our folks in Philly and our pediatrician here (whom I love, by the way), and I think we've come up with some good solutions. Hopefully we will get past this problem and work into some really good program.
The other thing we are working on is getting the volunteers we will need for this new program. We have some new patterning (and old), which requires two volunteers instead of just one. We are at the disadvantage and advantage of living in a new place. Disadvantage that we have to start from scratch, but advantage that we have a completely unused pool to work from.
Another note about 1 and 2 mentioned above. It is my experience when things start off really well, the problems come up later and you take several steps back when you have to back off the program. When you have to start off more slowly, you can fight problems as they come up and there is generally a more steady improvement.
So overall, I feel really good about our progression. Not to mention we have our beach vacation coming up. I like that we are getting our problems out of the way before we have a great week. Then we can start back strong!!
