A TENS unit supplies low-level electrical current into muscles and nerves. This helps the muscle to relax, and a lot of people use it to control pain in various places in the body. Transdermal Magnesium is basically a magnesium supplement that delivers the much-needed mineral through the skin.
We have been using the transdermal magnesium for quite a while to increase the magnesium being absorbed into Noah's red blood cells. Magnesium reduces rigidity and controls seizures -- if it is well-absorbed into the body's red blood cells. It is really wonderful stuff that has helped Noah tremendously.
What is really cool is that lately we have been using these to things together to reduce Noah's rigidity in specific muscles -- mainly the hamstrings and adductors that cause problems for his hips. The magnesium has a positive charge, and it follows the charge of the TENS unit directly into the problem muscles. Cool, huh?
Now, I will only add that if you have to use the electrodes for the TENS on a regular basis, NEVER buy them at a store. The arm and leg they will cost you is not worth it. I recently found out that a friend of mine who uses TENS gets her electrodes at the store, and pays about 60 bucks for SIX electrodes. I pay about ten bucks less for 40 electrodes. Google them and you will find a ton of stores online. Just make sure you get the reusable ones with cloth backs. The foam ones don't last as long.
