Drew and I were in lectures today (Tuesday -- the blog seems to want to keep the date as Saturday -- weird, huh -- the last several posts were from Monday), and we will be in lectures again tomorrow. These are early lectures (meaning early in the program), which we have had before, and they make for very long days. Of course tomorrow they are planning to pull us in the afternoon and do some programming. We do enjoy the lectures, however, and it is good review.
It is also very encouraging to talk to the other families that are here this week because they have only been doing the program the last six months. They have a lot of questions for us, and I find it very encouraging because it has made me take a good look at where we were four years ago -- and the difference is astounding. When we started Noah had very poor vision, weighed only about 18 Lbs, was always fisted, kept his legs straight and feet pointed, had seizures while on seizure medication, took about 45 minutes to an hour to eat each meal, and could barely hold his head up for more than a few seconds. Contrast that with Noah's continuously improving vision, eating a meal in 15 minutes on average, having no seizures with no seizure medication, continuing to grow without a g-tube, now having hands that are open, and holding his head up quite well.
No wonder I feel so frustrated when people ask how we keep going with such a difficult program or why we work so hard. Well, if you were wondering -- now you know.
But more than that, it is great encouragement to me to see the results -- results that doctors would have told me were impossible "false hopes" -- as I look back on where we were then. It's great encouragement for me to keep going and feeling great about it!
Noah's army is a group of volunteers united in doing a program that will give Noah the best chance he has for reaching his potential. Come by any time for news on his progress and to see pictures of him and his brother.
Prayer Requests
UPDATED 08/20/12
1. Please pray that we can continue to get our new house set up for all of Noah's needs and that we can find all the volunteers we needs to do Noah's program (this is always a big, slow process when we move).
3. Our other big request is for Noah's hip. Noah's out-of-joint left hip is really holding him back. He needs range of motion, and he needs the muscles that are too tight to loosen up and the loose muscles to tighten up and get bigger. Pray for a new type of physical therapy we are started specifically to help the hip.
