Monday -- Quite A Day

What a day we had at the clinic (and away from it)! We saw Dr. Morales twice, did Noah's measurements, went to see the eye doctor, saw Dr. Morales again, and did our "summary".

Dr. Morales is working on a great hip protocol that will strengthen the weak "hip" muscles (the gluteus medius) using electric stem. Plus we will have to loosen the super-tight adducters (on the insides of Noah's legs) that are pulling the joint in the wrong direction (we are planning to see another doctor about that on Thursday). Anyway, we got our EMS (electrical muscle stimulator) today and hooked Noah up to it for the first time. He actually seemed to like it -- he got really still and relaxed until we started moving the leg around which is part of the program.

After that Noah got his measurements done, which went pretty well. He had grown almost two inches in the last six months and his chest had grown a centimeter -- which were both more than normal for the same age. His weight was still low, and head circumference was only slightly larger, but there's always something to work on!

After lunch we took Noah to see the eye doctor -- and were amazed! Not only had his vision improved, his left eye is now almost caught up with his right. This kind of improvement is very unusual and means that his brain is using the eyes together (very difficult for about 35% of people in the US). This can sometimes be achieved by patching the strong eye to make the brain use the weak one, but evidently Noah's brain decided to do this on his own. He had improved from 20/150 and 20/180 in his right and left eyes respectively to 20/90 and 20/100. This is huge -- unbelievable for the typical doctor -- and means that Noah can read about 18 point font. The more I think about this, the more amazed I am!

We came back from that appointment, worked with Dr. Morales some more, had some supper, and did our summary. We discussed some of what we should expect in next six months program. Then the staff will be meeting in the morning to decide on Noah's program.

It was a great day, and all I can say is: Go God!!!
