So we did Noah's evaluation yesterday (Friday, it is now Saturday) after seeing Dr. Morales again. We should get the results on Monday, but there were some obvious improvements. Noah was able to reach out and grab a wooden dowel with both hands at the same time. We will also see the eye doctor again on Monday, whom we haven't seen in a while.
Dr. Morales did some interesting muscle testing to measure the rigidity in some of the muscles in Noah's legs and back -- trying to see how much electricity the muscles put out in different positions. Of course the more electricity measured -- the more rigid the muscle. The opposite is, of course, true for the muscles that are weak. We are going to have a really aggressive treatment for the hip this time, and we will possibly be looking at some more advanced medical treatment as well.
Noah spent the entire day in his astronaut costume, which everyone loved -- especially the wife of the Medical Director at NASA who is on staff at the Institutes. Noah loved everyone making over him, and we got some cute pictures with a couple of other kids who had dressed up as well, which , I hope to add tomorrow.
Later in the day we strolled Noah around the little down town area where the shops were doing the trick-or-treat thing. Noah could care less about the candy (for obvious reasons -- he can't eat it), but again, he loved everyone making a big deal about him being an astronaut.
Tomorrow we are going to the little Baptist church across the street that we went to the last time, and we look forward to fellowship with those really sweet people again. After visiting here numerous times now, I can really see why they call this the city of brotherly love.
Noah's army is a group of volunteers united in doing a program that will give Noah the best chance he has for reaching his potential. Come by any time for news on his progress and to see pictures of him and his brother.
Prayer Requests
UPDATED 08/20/12
1. Please pray that we can continue to get our new house set up for all of Noah's needs and that we can find all the volunteers we needs to do Noah's program (this is always a big, slow process when we move).
3. Our other big request is for Noah's hip. Noah's out-of-joint left hip is really holding him back. He needs range of motion, and he needs the muscles that are too tight to loosen up and the loose muscles to tighten up and get bigger. Pray for a new type of physical therapy we are started specifically to help the hip.
