In the mean time, we have managed to enjoy our huge new yard, which we are very excited about and have great plans for (evidently we are even planning on a batting cage?!). Whatever -- as long as it gets us outside!! Vitamin D is a very important nutrient, so make sure you get outside for a few minutes before applying sunscreen. Gasp!! That goes against everything they tell you in commercials!! But in just 15 minutes outside, you can absorb as much as 15,000 IU of vitamin D! It drops to almost nothing if you are wearing sunscreen. You also have to be very careful about how much you take in a supplement -- doctors recommend no more that 2000 IU for those with a deficiency because it can be hard on your liver.
Anyway, I picked up this cheap little slip-n-slide, and the older two boys had a great time on it while Isaiah slept. We found that it worked best if it was slightly downhill. Eli got the hang of it really quickly, and Noah enjoyed being pushed along on it as well. I think that mostly kids just like getting wet!
Here's Eli sliding his way to the end.
Noah's getting a little help from Daddy!
"Helping" Noah play is a little more work, but the reward is seeing him having so much fun!!
