Great Story!

Often when Noah gets excited or tickled with a situation, he will start hollering and giggling and making quite the fuss. I absolutely love it! It generally makes me laugh in turn making him laugh louder. Sometimes this even happens in public.

I do try to teach Noah to be quiet in certain public situations like church or a movie (with varying degrees of success). But at a sporting event or even in a child-friendly restaurant, I don't really worry about it.

However...

I expect that one day someone will get irritated at the noise he makes when we are out somewhere. I fear that someone will approach us about how we need to remove him from that place. I will not be kind to that person. I will let them know that he or she is the type of person that should not be allowed in public. I sometimes think of cutting remarks to make to such people. Don't mess with mama bear.

I guess I am a bit silly, especially since most people are really kind to us. There are a lot of people who are uncomfortable around Noah, but simply because they don't know how to act around him, not because they are mean-spirited. Quite a few people, however, come up to us, they speak with me and they speak to Noah. They say nice things and they offer to help make us more comfortable. It is very kind.

Pertaining to this, I recently came across this story, and I thought it rather wonderful. It restores my faith in humanity (at least for a time), and makes me think that I might not actually have to make those cutting remarks after all. Indeed, I might not ever know they could be warranted.
