Day 2

We had a great day today, and we are working hard with all the different doctors to try and resolve Noah's two biggest problems -- his reflux and his left hip.

The problem that we are having getting these problems solves is that they are working against each other. We can't attack the hip as aggressively as Noah needs because several of the treatments involve things like hanging upside-down. Well, this greatly aggravates his reflux. Also, he can't do a number of the programs that would help his reflux, like the standing program, because it causes him a lot of pain in his hip.

You might say, "Well, I can understand pain in his hip, but why is reflux such a problem?" And truthfully, I'd have to say that I have had some of those same thoughts in the past. The reason reflux becomes such a problem is that is can be quite severe causing so much pain that he can't eat and vomits any food he does get down (further aggravating the problem). If you've read much of this blog, you know that weight gain is a huge issue for him. So, if he is spitting up a lot and having a lot of reflux, then it keeps him from being able to do much of his program -- which is the only way for him to improve.

Anyway, all that is to say that the Drs are all trying to get a good plan of attack so that we can take care of the problem. If we can solve the reflux, then we can give the hip our best effort at getting it where he needs to be. If we can get his hip where it needs to be, we can get him crawling, creeping, and walking. So we are on the right track. Please be in prayer that we can come up with something that will solve the reflux!
