First, Noah got into his respiratory patterning jacket. This is a really cool program that helps Noah to breath deeply on a good rhythm. One thing that kids with cerebral palsy and other brain injury related issues have a problem with is getting those good deep breaths, and when they are relaxing or sleeping, they tend to have a poor breathing rhythm (theorized to be the main reason seizures are more common at night). Noah sleeps in his jacket every night, and spends 1 to 4 hours of awake time in it depending on the day. So he spent a couple hours doing some resting and some good breathing.
This is another cool program called TEAS (transient electronic auditory stimulation -- say that 10 times fast!). It is basically just listening to music -- but this music is special. There is noxious noise in the background (you or I would hardly notice it), but listening to this type of music regularly helps Noah's brain learn to filter out that noise. This helps to lessen his hypersensitive hearing.
So unless Noah's running a high fever, we never just quit doing program -- because there's always so much we can do in just about any circumstance!
