A Book For When You Aren't Sure What To Do

I get a lot of questions about how we found the Institutes. It's pretty simple. The physical therapist that worked with Noah when he was a baby made the following statement to me during a session:

"I don't know how much he'll ever be able to do physically, but he seems really smart. Check out this book by Glenn Doman called How To Teach Your Baby To Read."

Well, I did look up that book, but I saw that Glenn Doman had written quite a number of other books including this one:

I read this book, and it made good sense to me. I started doing some things from it, and I read How To Teach Your Baby To Read as well, and I started trying some things from it. My husband saw what I was doing, thought it was pretty neat, and wanted to know where I got it from. So he read the book while on a ski trip. He called me and said, "When can we go?"

We went to Philadelphia, took the What To Do About Your Brain Injured Child course, and started the program. What was really cool about it is that not only did Noah start to make a lot of really positive changes, every time we went back to the Institutes, all the kids we started the program with were really improving as well. Many of the children with more mild developmental issues than Noah have graduated the program. There are several that started with us that are still doing the program today.

Noah has had some setbacks, but he has done much, much better than the doctors predicted. And continues to do so! If you are interested in what we do, but aren't really sure -- start with the What To Do book. Read some of the other Glenn Doman books (I suggest the Reading book and the Physically Superb book to begin). Start a home program even if is just an hour or two a day -- the same hour or two every day. Stay calm, don't get frustrated, and have fun!!
